Tata Sierra EV Set for Launch with Up to 75 kWh Battery, Expected Price Revealed
Tata Motors is preparing to bring back the iconic Sierra name in an all electric avatar, featuring modern design, advanced battery options up to 75 kWh, and multiple variants aimed at competing in India’s growing EV SUV segment.

The electric vehicle market in India is about to see another major addition as Tata Motors gears up to launch the Sierra EV by the end of this month. The upcoming electric SUV is expected to carry forward the legacy name while introducing a completely modern electric powertrain built on Tata’s acti.ev+ platform. Positioned in the mid to premium EV space, it will go up against rivals like the MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6, and Hyundai Creta Electric.
Recent reports suggest that Tata Sierra EV will be offered in both rear wheel drive and all wheel drive configurations. Buyers may get battery pack choices of 65 kWh and 75 kWh, with the larger pack likely reserved for higher AWD variants. While the exterior design takes inspiration from the original Sierra ICE version, the EV version will feature a closed front grille and a redesigned bumper to highlight its electric identity. The cabin layout, however, is expected to remain close to the ICE concept in terms of overall design language.
Inside the cabin, Tata is expected to focus heavily on a modern digital experience. Higher variants may come with a triple screen setup that includes a 10.25 inch driver display, a 12.3 inch infotainment system, and a 12.3 inch passenger screen. Lower trims are likely to get a dual screen layout instead. Comfort features such as ventilated front seats, powered adjustments, panoramic sunroof, multiple driving modes, and a premium audio system are also expected to be part of the package.
On the pricing front, the Sierra EV is likely to be positioned between 18 lakh and 25 lakh rupees ex showroom, making it a strong competitor in the mid size electric SUV category. With this pricing strategy, Tata aims to attract both urban buyers and long distance EV users looking for practicality along with premium features.
In parallel with its EV strategy, Tata Motors has also updated its existing electric lineup. The company recently introduced a refreshed version of the Tiago EV with updated styling and added features. It continues to be one of the most affordable EV options in the country, with prices starting at 6.99 lakh rupees and offering battery options of 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh. The model is also available under a battery as a service plan, making entry costs even lower for new buyers.
With the Sierra EV, Tata Motors is clearly aiming to strengthen its position in the fast expanding electric SUV segment, where competition is becoming increasingly aggressive and technology driven.
