Xiaomi Pad 8 Gets a Surprise Price Hike in India as Buyers Face Higher Costs

Xiaomi has increased the prices of all Xiaomi Pad 8 variants in India, making the premium tablet costlier while retaining the same specifications, display features, and performance hardware.

Consumers planning to purchase the Xiaomi Pad 8 in India will now have to spend more than before. Xiaomi has quietly revised the pricing of its popular tablet lineup, increasing the cost of every available variant by Rs 2,000. The updated prices have already appeared on the company’s official website, catching the attention of potential buyers.

The price revision comes just a few months after the tablet’s launch earlier this year. While Xiaomi has not officially explained the reason behind the increase, industry observers believe rising component costs and ongoing supply chain challenges may have contributed to the decision. Similar price adjustments have recently been seen across products from several smartphone and technology brands in the Indian market.

Following the revision, the base Xiaomi Pad 8 model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is now priced at Rs 35,999. At launch, the same variant was available for Rs 33,999. Buyers opting for the higher end 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version will now have to pay Rs 38,999 instead of the earlier Rs 36,999.

The premium bundles have also become more expensive. The Xiaomi Pad 8 package that includes the Focus Pen Pro now carries a higher price tag, reflecting the same Rs 2,000 increase. Likewise, the Nano Texture Display edition and its bundled variants have also received similar price revisions, making the entire lineup costlier than before.

Despite the higher prices, Xiaomi has not made any changes to the tablet’s hardware or features. The Xiaomi Pad 8 continues to target users looking for a premium Android tablet experience with a focus on entertainment, productivity, and creative work.

One of the strongest highlights of the device remains its large 11.2 inch display featuring a sharp 3.2K resolution and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. The screen supports up to 800 nits of peak brightness, delivering vibrant visuals whether users are streaming content, gaming, or working on documents. Customers can choose between the standard glossy display and the Nano Texture Display version, which offers improved anti glare and anti reflective capabilities.

Under the hood, the tablet is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. Paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5T RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage, the device is designed to handle multitasking, gaming, and demanding applications with ease. The Adreno 825 GPU further enhances graphics performance, making it suitable for content creators and mobile gamers alike.

For photography and video calls, Xiaomi has equipped the tablet with a 13 megapixel rear camera and an 8 megapixel front camera. While cameras are not the primary focus of tablets, these sensors are capable of handling everyday scanning, virtual meetings, and casual photography requirements.

Audio performance is another area where the Xiaomi Pad 8 stands out. The device features a quad speaker setup with Dolby Atmos and High Resolution Audio support, offering an immersive multimedia experience for users who enjoy movies, music, and gaming.

The tablet packs a sizeable 9200mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging. This combination allows users to enjoy extended usage while reducing charging downtime. Xiaomi has also positioned the device as a productivity tool by offering support for the Focus Pen Pro stylus and keyboard accessories, enabling a laptop like workflow for students and professionals.

Although the hardware remains unchanged, the sudden price increase may influence buying decisions for customers who were waiting for discounts or planning a purchase. For now, anyone interested in the Xiaomi Pad 8 will need to factor in the revised pricing before making their decision.

With premium specifications, a high refresh rate display, powerful chipset, and productivity focused accessories, the Xiaomi Pad 8 continues to be a strong contender in the Android tablet segment. However, its higher price may make buyers compare alternatives more carefully before making a purchase.
