Court Closes Plea Seeking Probe Into Alleged Income Disclosure Case Against Vijay

A petition demanding further investigation against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay was withdrawn before the Madras High Court, bringing an end to the legal proceedings.

The Madras High Court on Tuesday permitted the withdrawal of a petition that sought a fresh investigation against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay over allegations linked to undisclosed income.

The case came up before a division bench, where the petitioner informed the court that he no longer wished to pursue the matter. After considering the request, the judges granted permission to withdraw the petition and closed the case.

The plea had called for legal action based on findings from earlier income tax proceedings. It also sought registration of a criminal case and additional scrutiny of records connected to previous searches.

The petitioner argued that materials gathered during tax department searches conducted several years ago warranted further investigation. Allegations were raised regarding income declarations and financial disclosures connected to that period.

The matter had its roots in an earlier dispute involving a tax penalty imposed on Vijay. That penalty was challenged before the High Court in a separate proceeding, which had already been dismissed.

Following the petitioner’s decision to step back from the case, the court did not examine the allegations on merit and formally allowed the withdrawal, ending the proceedings without any further orders.
