Telangana Government Plans Massive Anganwadi Recruitment Drive for Women
Telangana is preparing to fill thousands of Anganwadi vacancies this year, creating a major employment opportunity for unemployed women across rural and urban areas in the state.

Thousands of unemployed women in Telangana may soon receive a major employment opportunity as the state government moves ahead with a large scale recruitment process for Anganwadi centres. The Women and Child Welfare Department is speeding up preparations to fill 15,982 vacant positions before the end of this year, bringing hope to many women waiting for government jobs.
The upcoming recruitment drive is expected to become one of the biggest hiring efforts in the department in recent years. Officials say vacancies increased due to promotions, retirements and employees moving into permanent positions over the last three years. Recently, another 708 posts became available after retirements, pushing the total number of vacant positions close to 16,000.
Among the available posts, the highest number includes 12,882 Anganwadi Helper positions, while 3,100 vacancies are expected under Anganwadi Worker roles. The recruitment process is likely to take place under the supervision of district collectors to maintain transparency and ensure that local requirements are given importance.
Educational qualifications are also expected to remain straightforward. Candidates applying for Helper posts may need to have passed Class 10, while Intermediate qualification is likely to be considered for Worker positions. Women applying for these jobs are expected to be residents of the same village or ward where the Anganwadi centre is located.
Reports suggest that selections could be based on merit or interviews, without a written examination. Apart from filling vacant jobs, the government is also preparing to improve facilities at Anganwadi centres across the state, including better infrastructure, drinking water availability and electricity connections. The move is expected to strengthen child welfare services while creating employment opportunities for thousands of women.
