Telangana Premier League Set to Launch with Statewide Cricket Talent Hunt
The Hyderabad Cricket Association is preparing to organise the Telangana Premier League next month with transparent player selections, open trials and opportunities for young cricketers across the state.

Young cricket players across Telangana are expected to get a major opportunity to showcase their talent as preparations begin for the upcoming Telangana Premier League scheduled for next month.
The details of the new cricket league were announced during a press meeting held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal by officials of the Hyderabad Cricket Association along with former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu.
Organisers said the league is being designed to create a strong pathway for talented local players to reach national and international levels in the future. Around 3,000 cricketers from different districts of Telangana are expected to be identified through open selection trials before the tournament begins.
HCA Secretary Manne Jeevan Reddy stated that the selection process will be conducted in a completely transparent manner without any outside influence. To ensure fairness, the association has formed separate senior and junior selection panels consisting of former cricketers and experienced professionals.
Officials also revealed that artificial intelligence technology will be used during the selection process to help identify genuine talent and reduce the possibility of bias. Every stage of the trials will reportedly be recorded on video and physical records of player evaluations will also be maintained.
Ambati Rayudu said franchise style leagues such as the IPL have played an important role in bringing young players into the spotlight, and the Telangana Premier League aims to offer a similar platform for emerging cricketers from smaller towns and districts.
According to organisers, open trials and league activities will be conducted on a larger scale this season, with emphasis on equal opportunities for deserving players. Officials added that the final decisions regarding team selections and tournament structure will be taken by the selection committee.
The senior selection committee will be headed by P Akshanth Reddy, while the junior committee will function under Akash Bhandari. Several former players and cricket professionals have also been included as members in both panels to supervise the selection process and league operations.
The organisers expressed confidence that the tournament would help strengthen grassroots cricket in Telangana and encourage young players to pursue the sport professionally.
