Former iBomma operator Immandi Ravi has approached a Nampally court seeking access to frozen bank funds, saying the restriction has caused financial difficulties for his family.
iBomma Ravi Bank Accounts: Former iBomma operator Immandi Ravi has approached the Nampally court seeking the release of money frozen in his bank accounts. He has asked the court to allow access to around Rs 3 crore currently under restriction.
Ravi was arrested in connection with the iBomma piracy case and was later released on bail. During the investigation, police seized or froze financial assets linked to him, including bank accounts and property related deposits.
In his latest petition, Ravi said the freezing of his accounts had created financial difficulties. He told the court that he was struggling to meet his family’s expenses because he could not use the money in those accounts.
The Nampally Ninth Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court is scheduled to hear the petition on Wednesday. The court will consider Ravi’s request regarding the frozen funds.
The case relates to allegations surrounding the iBomma website, which was accused of illegally streaming pirated films. Police have alleged that the operation generated substantial amounts of money through the distribution of pirated content.
Ravi originally came to Hyderabad from Visakhapatnam for higher studies. He was later linked to the management of the iBomma website. The investigation eventually focused on his alleged role in the piracy network and the financial transactions connected to it.
Ravi had reportedly been living outside India for an extended period before returning to Hyderabad for personal reasons. Police arrested him after his return and questioned him as part of the investigation.
He remained in jail for nearly three months before securing bail. The investigation into the piracy case and related financial matters has continued.
The freezing of bank accounts and seizure of assets formed part of the police action during the investigation. Ravi’s latest petition now seeks relief specifically with regard to the money held in his frozen accounts.
The court’s decision on the petition will determine whether he can access the requested funds while the wider case continues. The allegations against Ravi remain part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
