OBE R3 Ultra Max Projector Launches With 150 Inch 4K Support

OBE has introduced its new R3 Ultra Max Projector in China, targeting users who want a larger home cinema experience without depending on a conventional television. The projector combines a large projection size with built in speakers, smart software and flexible positioning.

The projector has been listed on JD.com in China with a launch price of 3999 yuan, which is around Rs 57000 based on the conversion mentioned for the product. OBE has not yet announced plans for an international launch, and there is currently no confirmed information about availability in India.

One of the most interesting aspects of the R3 Ultra Max is its Z shaped gimbal mechanism. The projector can tilt vertically through 120 degrees and rotate horizontally through 360 degrees. This makes it possible to adjust the projection direction according to the room setup.

The flexible mechanism also allows users to project content onto the ceiling. This could be useful in bedrooms or other spaces where a conventional wall mounted viewing setup is not practical. The speakers are positioned at the base, and OBE says their orientation remains stable even when the projection angle is changed.

For the display, the R3 Ultra Max uses a 5 inch TCL CSOT LCD panel. Its native resolution is 1080p, but the projector accepts 4K input. The company has rated its brightness at 1800 CVIA lumens and specified a dynamic contrast ratio of 40000 to 1.

The projector can produce an image ranging from 40 inches to 150 inches, giving users considerable flexibility depending on the available distance and room size. It comes with a 1.2 to 1 throw ratio, while operating noise is rated below 26dB.

Audio is another area where OBE has tried to make the R3 Ultra Max stand apart from regular compact projectors. The device features a 2.1 channel speaker arrangement with two 10W drivers handling mid and high frequencies. A separate 25W subwoofer is included for stronger low frequency output.

The speaker system also features a 1070cc acoustic chamber. According to OBE, it can reproduce bass frequencies down to 43Hz. The company is positioning this setup as a more powerful alternative to the smaller speakers commonly found in projectors.

Under the hood, the R3 Ultra Max is powered by a MediaTek MT9681 processor. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, giving users space for applications and other content supported by its smart platform.

Connectivity is fairly extensive for a home projector. The device includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, with one supporting eARC. There is also a USB A 3.0 port and a 3.5mm audio connection. Wireless options include dual band WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

Gaming is another possible use case. OBE claims the projector has an input latency of just 3ms. While the overall gaming experience will also depend on resolution and other settings, the low claimed latency could make the projector appealing to users who want a large screen for games.

The smart experience is handled by OBE Super AI OS 2.0. The system supports screen casting through AirPlay and Miracast, allowing compatible devices to share content with the projector.

OBE has also integrated Tencent Hunyuan large language model technology into the device. The feature can be used for voice search and general questions, adding AI based functions to the projector beyond traditional media playback.

Automatic setup is handled through a combination of a ToF sensor and CMOS camera. These components help the projector perform automatic keystone correction, focusing and screen alignment. The system can also detect obstacles in front of the projection area and adjust the image accordingly.

With its 150 inch maximum projection size, flexible gimbal mechanism and 2.1 channel audio system, the OBE R3 Ultra Max is clearly designed for users looking beyond basic projector functionality. Its large battery free home cinema setup is complemented by smart software and a wide selection of connectivity options.

The biggest question for buyers outside China is availability. OBE has not confirmed an India launch or wider international release so far. For now, the R3 Ultra Max remains a China market product, with its specifications and pricing giving an indication of what the company is offering in the premium home projector segment.
