iPhone 18 Pro Max Compared With Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra

The flagship smartphone market has become increasingly competitive, and buyers looking at premium phones now have several powerful options. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is among the latest high end offerings from Apple, but it faces serious competition from the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra.

All three smartphones bring premium hardware, high resolution displays and advanced camera systems. However, their approach is quite different, especially when it comes to cameras, software, storage and pricing.

Price is one of the first areas where the three phones separate themselves. The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,79,900 for the 256GB model. The 512GB version costs Rs 2,04,900, while the 1TB variant is priced at Rs 2,54,900.

Oppo has positioned the Find X9 Ultra at Rs 1,69,999 for its 12GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration. The Vivo X300 Ultra is priced lower at Rs 1,59,999 for the 16GB RAM and 512GB model. On paper, the two Chinese flagships therefore offer more memory and storage at a lower starting price than the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The display experience is another major difference. Apple has equipped the iPhone 18 Pro Max with a 6.9 inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. It has a resolution of 2868 by 1320 pixels and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel can reach a peak brightness of 1600 nits.

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra uses a slightly smaller 6.82 inch flexible AMOLED display. Its QHD Plus panel has a resolution of 1440 by 3168 pixels and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness is listed at up to 1800 nits.

Vivo takes a similar premium approach with the X300 Ultra. It features a 6.82 inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 3168 by 1440 pixels. The screen also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and uses a 20 by 9 aspect ratio.

Performance is handled by different platforms across the three smartphones. The iPhone 18 Pro Max uses Apples A20 Pro chipset, while the Oppo Find X9 Ultra gets the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The Vivo X300 Ultra also uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform.

For everyday performance, all three phones are positioned in the flagship category. The difference comes mainly from their software ecosystems. Apple ships the iPhone 18 Pro Max with iOS 27, while Oppo runs ColorOS 16 based on Android 16. Vivo uses OriginOS 6 based on Android 16.

The camera department is where Oppo and Vivo make an especially strong push. The Oppo Find X9 Ultra carries a four camera rear setup consisting of a 200 megapixel primary camera with OIS, a 50 megapixel ultra wide camera, a 200 megapixel telephoto camera and a 50 megapixel ultra telephoto camera.

Vivo also focuses heavily on high resolution photography. The X300 Ultra has a 200 megapixel primary camera with an f 1.85 aperture, along with a 200 megapixel periscope telephoto camera with an f 2.0 aperture. A 50 megapixel ultra wide camera with an f 2.67 aperture completes the rear setup.

Apple takes a different route with the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Its rear camera system includes a 48 megapixel Fusion primary camera with variable aperture, a 48 megapixel ultra wide camera and a 48 megapixel telephoto camera.

The front cameras also show a clear difference between the three models. The iPhone 18 Pro Max has an 18 megapixel front camera. Oppo offers a 50 megapixel front camera on the Find X9 Ultra, while the Vivo X300 Ultra also gets a 50 megapixel front camera with an f 2.45 aperture.

The physical dimensions are relatively close, although the iPhone is the heaviest of the three. The iPhone 18 Pro Max measures 163.4 mm in length, 78.0 mm in width and 8.75 mm in thickness. It weighs 249 grams.

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra measures 163.16 mm long, 76.97 mm wide and 8.65 mm thick, with a weight of 235 grams. Vivo has kept the X300 Ultra slightly slimmer, measuring 162.98 mm in length, 76.81 mm in width and 8.19 mm in thickness. It weighs 237 grams.

Connectivity is well covered across the three flagship phones. The iPhone 18 Pro Max supports 5G, Bluetooth 6, WiFi 7, NFC, GPS and a USB Type C port.

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra comes with WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, GPS and USB Type C connectivity. The Vivo X300 Ultra adds 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS, OTG and a USB Type C 3.2 port.

Looking at the overall specifications, there is no single winner for every type of buyer. The iPhone 18 Pro Max stands out for users who prefer the Apple ecosystem and iOS experience, while Oppo and Vivo offer aggressive hardware specifications at comparatively lower prices.

Oppo has a particularly strong camera proposition with its combination of high resolution primary and telephoto sensors. Vivo also targets photography enthusiasts with two 200 megapixel cameras and a high resolution ultra wide sensor.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max, meanwhile, combines Apples A20 Pro chipset with its premium OLED display and iOS 27 software. Its camera numbers may look smaller on paper, but the overall experience depends on image processing, software features and real world performance rather than megapixel count alone.

For buyers making a decision between these three flagship smartphones, price, camera preferences, operating system and ecosystem will likely matter more than specifications alone.
