CSK New Coach: CSK Searches for New Head Coach as MS Dhoni Reportedly Sets Two Conditions

CSK New Coach: Chennai Super Kings are yet to name a replacement for Stephen Fleming, who stepped away from his long stint as the franchise’s head coach. With the next IPL season approaching, the search appears to be entering its final stage.

Several names have been discussed around the franchise, but CSK has not officially confirmed its choice. IPL sources suggest the management could make a decision as early as next week.

Amid the search, reports have emerged about two preferences that MS Dhoni has allegedly placed before the CSK management. The first is that the new head coach should be Indian, with the support staff also largely picked from India.

That reported preference could affect some of the names previously linked with the position. Former Australia batter Mike Hussey had been considered by many as a possible successor to Fleming. Hussey has been part of the CSK setup for several years as the team’s batting coach.

Fleming’s departure has also changed the coaching equation around the franchise. The New Zealand great had responsibilities beyond CSK, including coaching Johannesburg Super Kings and Texas Super Kings in other T20 leagues connected with the franchise.

The second reported condition is that the incoming head coach should focus only on CSK. In other words, the coach would not be expected to take charge of the franchise’s teams in other leagues.

This approach would represent a change from the arrangement under Fleming, who was involved with multiple teams within the wider CSK group. The reported preference suggests the franchise wants its next head coach to give complete attention to the IPL side.

One name that has gained attention in this situation is former India batter Hemang Badani. He is currently associated with Delhi Capitals as head coach and has experience in coaching roles.

Badani also has a relationship with Dhoni, which could work in his favour if CSK seriously considers him for the position. His familiarity with Indian cricket and experience in the coaching setup make him one of the names being discussed.

However, there is no official confirmation that Badani has been selected or that talks have reached the final stage. CSK is expected to assess its options before announcing the new coaching team.

The appointment will be closely watched because Fleming had been one of the most influential figures in CSK’s success over the years. Finding someone who can maintain the team’s established approach while bringing a fresh perspective will be an important decision for the franchise.
