September Smartphone Launches: Poco, Vivo and Redmi Bring Big Batteries and Powerful Features

The smartphone market is set for a busy start to September, with several major brands preparing new devices within the first few days of the month. Poco, Vivo and Redmi are expected to introduce phones aimed at different price segments, while battery capacity appears to be one of the biggest themes this time.

Several upcoming models are expected to carry batteries far larger than what is normally seen in smartphones. The list includes the Poco F9 Ultra, Poco F9 Pro, Vivo T5 5G, Redmi 17 5G, Vivo V80 Lite 5G and the Poco X8 series. Some of these devices are also expected to combine large batteries with high refresh rate displays and fast charging.

Poco F9 Pro and Poco F9 Ultra
Poco will begin the launch activity on September 1 with the global debut of the Poco F9 Pro and Poco F9 Ultra. Both phones are positioned as performance focused models and are expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset family.

The displays are expected to use OLED or AMOLED technology, with the Poco F9 Pro reportedly offering a refresh rate of up to 185Hz. Large batteries are another major highlight of the series, making these phones particularly interesting for users who spend considerable time gaming or consuming multimedia content.

The Poco F9 Ultra is expected to sit at the top of the lineup, with more premium specifications than the Pro model.

Vivo T5 5G
Vivo is expected to follow with the Vivo T5 5G on September 2. The phone is tipped to feature a large 6.83 inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a curved design.

Powering the smartphone could be the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo processor. A 7050mAh battery is expected to be included, supported by 44W fast charging.

For photography, the Vivo T5 5G could feature a 50 megapixel dual camera system on the rear along with a 32 megapixel front camera. The combination of a large screen, high refresh rate and bigger battery could make it one of Vivo’s notable launches in the segment.

Redmi 17 5G
The Redmi 17 5G is scheduled to arrive in India on September 3. Xiaomi has already created a product page for the phone on Amazon, indicating that the launch is being positioned strongly for the Indian market.

The battery is expected to be one of the phone’s main attractions. The device is tipped to pack a 7900mAh battery with 45W fast charging and 22.5W reverse charging support.

Under the hood, the Redmi 17 5G could use the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset. Its camera setup is expected to include a 50 megapixel primary sensor accompanied by a secondary camera, which could be an ultrawide lens.

Vivo V80 Lite 5G
Vivo has another major launch planned for September 3 with the Vivo V80 Lite 5G. The smartphone is expected to feature a 6.83 inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a resolution of 1260 by 2800 pixels.

The panel could support a 120Hz refresh rate and reach up to 3000 nits of peak brightness. Vivo is also highlighting photography, with a 50 megapixel main camera and an aspheric lens designed to help improve focus and reduce distortion.

However, the biggest talking point is expected to be the battery. Vivo has teased a 10000mAh battery under its Always Powered positioning. If launched as expected, it would mark the company’s first phone outside China to carry such a large battery.

Poco X8 Power 5G and Poco X8 5G
Poco is expected to continue its September launch push on September 4 with the Poco X8 Power 5G and Poco X8 5G in India.

The phones are expected to feature a 6.83 inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3500 nits. A Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor is also expected to handle performance duties.

The camera setup is tipped to include a 50 megapixel primary sensor paired with an 8 megapixel secondary camera. The Poco X8 Power 5G could stand out with a huge 10000mAh battery and 100W fast charging support.

With several launches packed into just a few days, September could turn out to be an important month for smartphone buyers. From flagship performance on the Poco F9 Ultra to the unusually large batteries expected on Vivo and Poco models, manufacturers are clearly pushing hardware specifications higher.

For buyers, the interesting part will be how these phones balance battery capacity, charging speed, display quality and everyday performance once the companies reveal their complete specifications and pricing.
