A safari helicopter crashed in a remote part of Kenya’s Samburu County, killing seven people, including five Americans, an Ecuadorian intelligence chief and his wife.

Kenya Helicopter Crash Kills Seven: Seven people were killed after a safari helicopter crashed in a remote area of northern Kenya on Wednesday morning, according to authorities.
The aircraft was travelling from Loisaba Conservancy towards the Ewaso Ngiro area when it went down near Mount Ololokwe in Samburu County. There were seven people on board, including six passengers and the pilot.
The crash was reported at around 9:13 a.m. local time. The aircraft came down in an isolated area, making it difficult for emergency teams to reach the site quickly. A fire also broke out at the crash location, adding to the challenges faced by rescuers, the Kenya Red Cross said.
All seven people on board died in the accident. The US State Department confirmed that five American citizens were among those killed.
Among the victims were José Alberto Suárez, a senior executive associated with Telemundo, and Ecuadorian intelligence chief Michele Sensi Contugi. His wife, Stephanie Sensi, was also killed in the crash.
The helicopter was operated by Lady Lori Helicopters, according to officials. The aircraft had been involved in a safari related journey when the accident occurred.
Authorities have not yet established what caused the helicopter to crash. Kenya’s aviation authorities have opened an investigation and are examining the flight path, conditions surrounding the journey and other factors that could have contributed to the accident.
The remote location of the crash has complicated the initial response, while investigators are expected to gather more information from the wreckage and available flight records as the probe continues.
