Vikram 1 Rocket Set for Historic Launch on July 18 Carrying PM Modi Signed Vande Mataram Message

India is set to witness a major milestone in its growing private space industry as Hyderabad based startup Skyroot Aerospace prepares to launch its Vikram 1 rocket on July 18 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The mission is expected to mark the first orbital class rocket launched by a private Indian company from Indian soil.

Named Mission Agaman by Skyroot Aerospace, the launch represents an important step for India’s commercial space ambitions. The company says the mission reflects the country’s rapid progress in private space technology and highlights the increasing role of Indian startups in the global space sector.

One of the most talked about payloads on board is a handwritten Vande Mataram message signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Along with it, the rocket will also carry handwritten letters from Skyroot team members, investors, policymakers, and supporters from around the world. These symbolic items have been included to celebrate India’s expanding presence in space exploration.

Apart from commemorative payloads, Vikram 1 will also transport several technology demonstration payloads and satellites developed by Indian and international startups. These include systems from Grahaa Space, Cosmoserve, DCubed, and Skyroot’s own SCOPE technology platform, showcasing innovative space technologies designed for future missions.

The mission will also carry Cosmic Bloom, a unique diamond artwork and micro art payload created by Cosmos Diamonds. The inclusion of artistic and cultural payloads adds a distinctive dimension to the historic flight while demonstrating the growing diversity of commercial space missions.

Officials have confirmed that all required airspace and maritime safety clearances have already been secured. Necessary notifications for restricted zones along the launch path have also been issued, ensuring that the mission is ready to proceed safely.

The Vikram 1 launch is expected to become a defining moment for India’s private space ecosystem. If successful, it will strengthen the country’s position in the global commercial space industry and open new opportunities for private companies developing advanced launch technologies.
