Samsung Galaxy M47 5G buyers are now facing a major price shock as the company has increased the smartphone’s price by up to Rs 8,000. The price revision comes within less than two weeks of the phone becoming available for sale, making it one of the biggest price jumps seen in the smartphone market recently.
The Galaxy M47 5G was launched in India with a starting price of Rs 25,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model. During the initial sale period, the device was also available at a discounted price of Rs 22,999. However, the same variant is now listed at a much higher price, reducing its appeal for budget conscious buyers.
After the latest price update, the Samsung Galaxy M47 5G 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant is now available for Rs 32,999. This means the base model has become Rs 7,000 more expensive compared to its launch price.
The other variants have also received a similar price increase. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model, which was originally launched at Rs 28,999, is now priced at Rs 36,999. Meanwhile, the top end 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant now costs Rs 41,999, compared to its launch price of Rs 33,999.
The sudden price increase has surprised smartphone customers as Samsung has raised the cost of the device by a much larger margin compared to recent price adjustments by other brands. Companies like Oppo, Vivo, and Realme had also increased prices on some smartphones recently, but those hikes were generally limited to around Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000.
Industry experts believe rising component costs, especially memory chip shortages and increasing RAM prices, are affecting smartphone pricing. The growing cost of hardware components is pushing brands to revise prices, making customers think more carefully before purchasing new devices.
Despite the higher price, the Samsung Galaxy M47 5G continues to offer strong specifications. The smartphone features a 6.7 inch sAMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1400 nits peak brightness. The screen also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus protection for improved durability.
For performance, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 4nm 5G processor paired with an Adreno 710 GPU. The chipset is designed to handle daily tasks, gaming, and multitasking efficiently.
The camera setup includes a 50 megapixel primary rear camera, a 5 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, and a 2 megapixel macro sensor. For selfies and video calls, the smartphone comes with a 12 megapixel front facing HDR camera.
Battery life is another key feature of the Galaxy M47 5G. The phone is equipped with a 6000mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging. While the specifications remain competitive, the recent price hike could make buyers reconsider the value offered by the smartphone.
