Realme Plans To Pause China Operations To Expand Global Smartphone Business
Chinese smartphone brand Realme is shifting its strategy by reducing focus on the domestic market and increasing efforts across international regions with new technology plans.
Realme has decided to temporarily pause its operations in China and redirect its attention towards global markets, marking a major shift in the company’s business strategy. The move comes as the smartphone brand aims to strengthen its international presence and invest more resources in overseas markets.
The decision was shared by Realme executive Shen Qi through a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. He explained that stepping back from the highly competitive Chinese smartphone market was a carefully considered decision and the company will now focus on expanding its global reach.
According to reports, Realme will give more attention to markets outside China, especially Europe. The brand is already selling smartphones in several European regions and plans to increase its presence there. Realme’s parent company Oppo has also been working on strengthening the brand’s position in Nordic countries, including Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Shen Qi said that choosing a clear direction for a brand among countless opportunities requires courage and careful planning. He added that Realme will focus its resources on improving performance, enhancing gaming experiences and bringing new technologies to users around the world.
The company’s latest move follows growing competition in China’s smartphone industry, where several brands are fighting for market share. By shifting attention towards international markets, Realme appears to be aiming for stronger growth opportunities beyond its home country.
Realme has also assured existing customers in China that they will continue receiving support. The company confirmed that Oppo’s official team will manage product sales services and after sales warranty support for current Realme smartphone users.
For software updates, Realme users will continue receiving system update notifications. After the release of the next generation ColorOS version, eligible Realme devices will be able to update through the ColorOS system. The company has also stated that customer rights and services will remain protected during this transition.
With this strategic change, Realme is preparing for a more global approach, focusing on international expansion, advanced technology development and stronger competition in overseas smartphone markets.
