Kia Syros EV Spotted Before Launch With Long Range Battery and Tata Nexon EV Rival Plans

Kia is preparing to enter the competitive electric SUV segment with its upcoming Syros EV, which has recently been spotted without camouflage ahead of its official launch. The new electric vehicle is expected to compete directly with popular models such as the Tata Nexon EV and MG Windsor EV in the Indian market.

The latest spy images have revealed several details about the production version of the Syros EV. The electric SUV appears to retain the overall design language of the petrol powered Syros, while receiving some EV specific updates. Reports suggest that Kia may introduce the model by the end of this month, with two battery pack options expected at launch.

The exterior design of the Syros EV looks familiar but includes subtle changes to distinguish it from the standard version. The test model was seen with a redesigned front bumper, a slimmer front grille area, vertical LED headlamps and body coloured elements. The side profile remains largely similar to the existing model, helping Kia maintain a consistent design identity.

One of the noticeable updates is the presence of new dual tone alloy wheels, which are expected to measure around 17 inches. The SUV may also feature flush door handles on the front doors, giving it a more premium electric vehicle appearance.

At the rear, major design changes are unlikely. The vehicle continues with vertical LED tail lamps, L shaped lighting elements and a familiar bumper design. However, an EV badge on the tailgate is expected to be added to clearly separate the electric version from its petrol powered sibling.

The interior of the upcoming EV has also been partially revealed through spy images. The cabin appears to feature a dual screen setup, digital driver display, three spoke steering wheel and physical controls for climate functions. Other expected additions include paddle shifters and a built in dash camera.

Kia is likely to equip the Syros EV with several premium features to attract buyers. Expected equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, powered driver seat, ventilated front seats and rear seat base ventilation. However, the availability of advanced driver assistance system features has not been officially confirmed yet.

Battery performance is expected to be one of the biggest highlights of the new electric SUV. According to reports, the Syros EV could use the same electric powertrain technology seen in the recently introduced Carens Clavis EV. The base version may come with a 42kWh battery pack offering an estimated ARAI certified range of around 420 kilometres.

A higher variant with a larger 51.4kWh battery pack could provide a claimed range of nearly 520 kilometres on a single charge. If these figures are accurate, the Syros EV could become a strong competitor in the growing electric SUV market.

With a practical SUV design, modern features and a long range battery option, Kia is aiming to strengthen its position in India’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle segment. The final specifications, pricing and launch details will be revealed by the company during the official announcement.
