Apple Reportedly Developing MacBook Neo 2 With Faster A19 Pro Chip and More RAM

Apple is reportedly working on the second generation of its affordable MacBook Neo lineup, and early reports suggest the upcoming laptop could deliver meaningful performance upgrades while retaining its budget friendly appeal. The next model, widely referred to as the MacBook Neo 2, is expected to feature a faster A19 Pro chipset, increased memory and improved support for Apple Intelligence features.

According to industry reports, Apple is currently testing multiple hardware configurations for the new laptop. The company is said to be focusing on enhancing everyday performance, multitasking and on device AI capabilities without significantly changing the overall design or positioning of the device. The MacBook Neo 2 is reportedly targeted for launch in 2027.

One of the biggest upgrades could be the move from the current A18 Pro processor to the newer A19 Pro chip. The latest processor is expected to deliver around 10 to 15 percent better CPU performance along with as much as 40 percent higher graphics performance. This would allow smoother multitasking, faster app launches and improved handling of creative tasks while also boosting AI driven features.

Interestingly, reports indicate that the laptop version of the A19 Pro may feature a five core GPU instead of the six core graphics unit expected in the iPhone 17 Pro. The change is believed to help Apple strike a better balance between performance, battery efficiency and thermal management in a thin laptop.

Memory is another area where the MacBook Neo 2 may receive a significant upgrade. The existing model offers 8GB of unified memory, but Apple is reportedly testing a 12GB RAM configuration for the upcoming version. The additional memory is expected to improve the performance of Apple Intelligence features and provide a smoother experience when running multiple applications simultaneously.

While the internal hardware is likely to see major improvements, Apple is not expected to redesign the laptop. The MacBook Neo 2 is likely to retain its lightweight and compact form factor, with only minor cosmetic changes such as new color options. The current finishes including Silver, Blush, Citrus and Indigo have been well received, and more colors could be introduced with the next generation.

The MacBook Neo series is designed for students, office professionals and everyday users who want reliable performance without paying premium MacBook Pro prices. Apple is expected to continue focusing on value while offering enough power for daily productivity, web browsing, entertainment and AI assisted tasks.

The current MacBook Neo is powered by the A18 Pro processor and comes with 8GB of unified memory along with 256GB or 512GB SSD storage options. Apple claims the chip delivers significantly faster everyday performance compared to many Windows laptops powered by Intel Core Ultra processors while also offering stronger AI processing capabilities.

The existing model features a 13 inch Liquid Retina IPS display with a resolution of 2408 by 1506 pixels, up to 4000 nits peak brightness and a pixel density of 219 PPI. It also includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, dual microphones with voice isolation, Dolby Atmos supported dual speakers and spatial audio for an enhanced multimedia experience.

Connectivity options include WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 6, two USB Type C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The laptop is powered by a 36.5Wh battery that Apple says can deliver up to 11 hours of web browsing or as much as 16 hours of video streaming on a single charge. Weighing only 1.23 kilograms, the MacBook Neo remains one of the lightest laptops in its category.

At launch in India, the current MacBook Neo was priced at ₹69900 for the 256GB model and ₹79900 for the 512GB version. With the next generation expected to bring faster hardware, additional RAM and better AI capabilities, the MacBook Neo 2 could become an even stronger option for users looking for an affordable MacBook experience.
