Apple iPhone Ultra Could Shake Up the Foldable Smartphone Market

Apple is expected to enter the foldable smartphone segment with the iPhone Ultra featuring advanced display technology powerful hardware and a premium design to challenge established market leaders soon.

Apple is reportedly preparing to make its long awaited entry into the foldable smartphone segment with a device that could be called the iPhone Ultra. The upcoming smartphone is expected to compete directly with leading foldable models from Samsung and Huawei, two companies that currently dominate the global market.

Industry analysts believe the foldable smartphone market is entering a new phase of growth. According to a recent market report, worldwide shipments of foldable devices are expected to increase by more than 30 percent this year, driven by rising consumer demand and the arrival of new flagship models from major smartphone brands.

Samsung is expected to retain its position as the market leader with an estimated share of around 28 percent. The company’s latest Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series are likely to remain among the most popular foldable devices. Huawei is also expected to maintain a strong presence, holding nearly 27 percent of the global foldable smartphone market.

Despite entering the category later than its rivals, Apple is expected to attract significant attention with its first foldable iPhone. Industry observers believe the company’s strong brand loyalty and premium ecosystem could help it gain market share quickly after launch.

Reports suggest Apple has increased its production plans for the foldable iPhone to nearly 10 million units, up from earlier estimates of around 8 million units. The move indicates growing confidence in consumer demand for the company’s first foldable smartphone.

The iPhone Ultra is rumored to feature Apple’s next generation processor built using TSMC’s advanced 2 nanometre manufacturing process. The chipset is expected to deliver improved performance, greater power efficiency and enhanced capabilities for demanding applications and multitasking.

Leaked specifications indicate that the device could include a 7.58 inch inner folding display and a 5.25 inch outer screen, offering users the flexibility of a smartphone and a compact tablet in one device. Apple is also expected to use a dual layer ultra thin glass design to improve durability while maintaining a premium viewing experience.

Another major highlight could be the redesigned hinge mechanism. Reports suggest Apple may adopt advanced three dimensional printing technology to manufacture the hinge, helping reduce the visible crease on the foldable display and improving the overall user experience. When unfolded, the software interface is also expected to offer a tablet like experience similar to the iPad, making multitasking more intuitive.

With Apple preparing to enter the foldable segment, analysts expect competition among Samsung, Huawei and Apple to intensify over the coming year. Together, these three companies could account for nearly 80 percent of the global foldable smartphone market, setting the stage for one of the most competitive battles in the premium smartphone industry.
