KTR Seeks 20000 Constable Jobs: BRS Working President K T Rama Rao has written an open letter to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, urging the state government to immediately recruit 20000 police constables. He said the Congress government should honour its election promise and provide long awaited opportunities to thousands of unemployed youth preparing for police jobs.

KTR stated that many police job aspirants come from poor and middle class families and have spent the last two and a half years preparing for recruitment. According to him, candidates have stayed away from their families, lived in hostels and rented rooms, and continued physical training and exam preparation with the hope of securing government employment.

Questioning the government’s recruitment plan, KTR said issuing a notification for only 5000 constable posts would be unfair to nearly 15 lakh aspirants. He referred to information obtained through the Right to Information Act, which indicated thousands of police vacancies remain unfilled. He also noted that government leaders had earlier spoken about filling a much larger number of vacant posts.

The BRS leader also appealed for relaxation in the upper age limit for police recruitment. He argued that recruitment notifications have been delayed for several years, making age relaxation essential for eligible candidates. KTR proposed increasing the maximum age to 36 years for constable applicants and 37 years for Sub Inspector candidates so that deserving aspirants are not denied an opportunity because of the delay.

He further questioned the difference in age eligibility between constable and Sub Inspector recruitment, saying both categories undergo similar physical fitness tests. If a 35 year old candidate is considered physically fit for the Sub Inspector post, denying the same age candidate a chance to apply for constable recruitment is not justified, he said.

Highlighting the previous BRS government’s record, KTR claimed that over 47000 police posts were filled during its tenure without making election promises. He added that more than 160000 government jobs had been filled after issuing notifications for over 232000 vacancies across different departments in Telangana.

KTR accused the Congress government of failing to deliver on its employment commitments despite completing more than two and a half years in office. He also criticised the delay in implementing the promised unemployment allowance and urged the government to focus on recruitment instead of postponing opportunities for job seekers. He warned that the BRS would continue to support unemployed youth until their demands are addressed.
