ECI Sets July 24 Deadline for Complete Telangana SIR Form Digitisation

The Election Commission of India has instructed district administrations in Telangana to complete the digitisation of all voter enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision 2026 programme by July 24. Officials have been asked to treat the exercise as a top priority and closely monitor its progress.

During a review meeting conducted through video conference, senior Election Commission official Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma expressed concern that only about 22 percent of the forms had been digitised despite nearly half of the scheduled timeline having passed. He directed district authorities to significantly increase the pace of work to achieve the target within the deadline.

Collectors have been asked to maintain daily supervision of the programme by staying in regular contact with Booth Level Officers. Officials were also instructed to identify field staff who have not yet uploaded any forms and provide them with immediate assistance to improve performance.

The Election Commission expressed particular concern over the slower progress in Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts. Local administrations have been directed to complete the remaining distribution of voter forms quickly and deploy volunteers wherever additional support is required.

Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy said that nearly all voter enumeration forms have already been distributed across the state, while digitisation is continuing. He urged district officials to complete at least half of the digitisation work before the next review meeting.

Apart from digitisation, the Election Commission also instructed officials to review polling station requirements and prepare proposals for new polling booths in locations where the number of voters exceeds the prescribed limit. Authorities have been asked to ensure the entire revision process is completed on schedule.
