Four Children Drown in Pond During Morning Outing in Maharashtra

A joyful morning outing turned tragic in Maharashtra’s Amravati after four youngsters drowned in a pond, leaving grieving families devastated and raising concerns over children visiting unsafe water bodies unattended.

A heartbreaking incident in Maharashtra’s Amravati district has left an entire locality in shock after four youngsters lost their lives in a pond drowning accident. What began as a casual morning walk ended in unimaginable grief for the families involved.

The victims, all residents from the Kholapuri Gate police station limits, had stepped out early in the morning for a walk. During their outing, they reached the nearby Ghatkheda pond and reportedly decided to enter the water for a swim after spending some time near the lake.

Children Unable to Escape Deep Water
According to local residents, the youngsters misjudged the depth of the pond and soon began drowning one after another. Since there were no elders nearby at the time, immediate help could not reach them.

The deceased were identified as Sonali Narendra Joshi aged 16, Aditya Narendra Joshi aged 12, Payal Bablu Pandit aged 21, and Yash Gajanan Kakne aged 13. The death of two children from the same family has especially left relatives and neighbours emotionally shattered.

Rescue Teams Recover Bodies

People in the surrounding area alerted police and district officials soon after noticing the children struggling in the water. Teams from the Kholapuri Gate police station and the district disaster response unit rushed to the spot and began rescue operations with the help of villagers.

After an intensive search, all four bodies were recovered from the pond and later shifted to a hospital for postmortem examination. Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.

Authorities Issue Safety Warning

The tragic accident has cast a shadow of sorrow across the Ghatkheda area. Officials have urged parents to remain alert during summer holidays and ensure children do not visit lakes, ponds, or other water bodies without adult supervision.

Locals believe the accident could have been avoided if proper safety measures or supervision had been in place near the pond.
