Jana Nayagan Set for Grand Worldwide Release as Vijay Bids Farewell to Cinema

Actor turned Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is preparing to bid farewell to the silver screen with Jana Nayagan, a film that has generated unprecedented excitement ahead of its worldwide release on July 23. The project is widely regarded as his final appearance in cinema before focusing completely on public life.

The film is scheduled to release across nearly 8,000 screens in around 30 countries and Indian states, making it one of the biggest releases of Vijay’s career. Advance bookings have witnessed an overwhelming response, with audiences rushing to secure tickets soon after sales opened.

According to industry sources, Tamil Nadu alone is expected to host more than 3,500 shows, and the number could rise further depending on demand. The movie has a runtime of 3 hours and 3 minutes and is set to play on approximately 900 screens across the state.

Advance ticket sales have already crossed Rs 10.60 crore within hours of bookings opening. Pre sales, which began on July 19, saw more than 90,000 tickets sold quickly across multiplexes and single screen theatres.

The enthusiasm has been particularly visible in Chennai, where Kamala Cinemas sold over 10,000 tickets within minutes, while Mayajaal Multiplex recorded houseful bookings for 48 shows in less than an hour. To manage the huge rush, the Tamil Nadu government has fixed the maximum ticket price in Chennai at Rs 190.

The production team confirmed that audiences will watch a significantly updated version of the film. Over the past seven months, the makers have added new scenes, fresh songs and several creative changes. The title card has also been revised to identify Vijay as the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, reflecting his current position.

The film’s certification process witnessed delays along with legal hurdles and piracy related challenges. Despite those issues, public interest has remained exceptionally strong, and industry representatives believe the theatrical experience will continue to attract audiences.

Producer Venkat K Narayana said the release has become much more than a film launch because it represents an emotional milestone in Vijay’s journey from cinema superstar to elected leader. He also confirmed that discussions regarding the release schedule and promotional plans were held with Vijay.

The film will be released in multiple languages with region specific titles. It will be known as Janeta in Hindi, Janayaku in Telugu and Janayak in Kannada to accommodate trademark requirements.

Directed by H Vinoth, the film features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Narain in key roles. The soundtrack has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography is by Sathyan Sooryan, and editing has been handled by Pradeep E Ragav.

With enormous advance bookings, widespread celebrations planned by fans and strong expectations at the box office, Jana Nayagan is poised for one of the biggest theatrical openings of the year.
