Peddapalli Student Detained: NIA Detains Engineering Student in Peddapalli Over Suspected Terror Links

Peddapalli Student Detained: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches in Ramagundam of Telangana’s Peddapalli district and detained an engineering student for questioning, according to reports. The action took place in the Ayodhya Nagar area, where officials reportedly picked up Muzamil Khan.

Investigators are examining whether the student had any contact with banned or extremist organisations. After being detained, he was taken to the NTPC police station, where officials are questioning him about his alleged connections and activities.

The latest development has once again brought Peddapalli into focus in connection with earlier NIA investigations. In 2023, the agency had conducted searches in Godavarikhani and detained three people over suspected links with the Islamic State Khorasan Province and alleged contact with handlers based in Pakistan.

The NIA has also stepped up investigations into suspected online radicalisation and terror networks in recent months. In a separate operation conducted across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, the agency reportedly carried out coordinated searches and arrested 12 suspects in a case linked to alleged plans to establish an Islamic State network in India.

Officials have been examining digital communications, contacts and other evidence in such cases to establish the extent of any suspected terror connections. The questioning of the Peddapalli student is expected to provide investigators with more information about the allegations.

At present, the exact nature of the student’s alleged association with any terror organisation has not been officially established. The investigation is continuing.
