Ramayana Gets Different Release Strategy for Overseas and India
The highly anticipated Ramayana will follow a different release strategy with the film scheduled to reach international markets before its theatrical debut in India during Diwali celebrations.

The much awaited Ramayana is set to follow an unusual release strategy, with the makers planning to bring the epic adaptation to international audiences before its theatrical release in India.
Producer Namit Malhotra has revealed that Ramayana will open in overseas markets on November 6, while the Indian release is planned for November 8, coinciding with the Diwali festival. He explained that international theatrical releases generally begin on Fridays, while the team has chosen the festive occasion for the film’s India debut.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being developed as a large scale cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic. The film has already generated considerable attention because of its ambitious production scale and high profile cast.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi appears as Sita. Yash takes on the role of Ravana, with Sunny Deol portraying Hanuman and Ravi Dubey playing Lakshmana. The combination of prominent actors has added further interest to the project.
The film also brings together internationally recognised music composers. Oscar winning composers AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer are working on the music for the project, adding another major international element to the production.
The distribution strategy has also been divided between different markets. Dharma Productions is handling the film’s distribution in India, while Sony Pictures has acquired the overseas distribution rights. T Series is also reported to have secured the music rights for around Rs 75 crore.
With its international release scheduled ahead of the Indian theatrical debut, Ramayana is preparing for a global launch that aims to build momentum before the film reaches Indian audiences during the Diwali period.
