Free Entry to Salar Jung Museum Announced for Government School Students in Telangana
The School Education Department has introduced free Salar Jung Museum visits for government school students to encourage cultural learning while issuing detailed safety booking and supervision guidelines for schools.
Government school students across Telangana will soon have an opportunity to explore one of the country’s most celebrated museums without paying an entry fee. The School Education Department has launched the initiative to help students gain a deeper understanding of India’s cultural heritage, history and artistic legacy through educational visits.
School Education Director Naveen Nicolas has instructed District Education Officers to organize these educational tours and ensure they are completed before the end of December. The department believes that exposing children to historical collections at an early age will strengthen their interest in culture, archaeology and the arts beyond classroom learning.
While the initiative primarily focuses on students from government schools, recognized private and aided schools are also eligible to participate. Officials have advised that priority should be given to primary and upper primary students so younger children can benefit from the museum experience during their formative years.
Schools planning a visit must complete the booking process at least forty eight hours in advance. Headmasters or school management representatives are required to send a request through the official email address education.salarjungmuseum@gmail.com before scheduling the trip. Authorities have cautioned that schools without prior confirmation may face difficulty in obtaining entry.
The Education Department has also issued safety guidelines for all participating institutions. One teacher must accompany every group of thirty students throughout the visit, and written consent from parents or guardians is mandatory before students are allowed to join the educational tour.
Located in Hyderabad, the Salar Jung Museum houses an extensive collection of historical artifacts from Asia, Europe and the Far East. Its galleries feature rare coins, weapons, carpets, paintings, sculptures and handcrafted objects, making it one of India’s most visited museums and an important destination for educational learning.
