Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started a six day visit to Indonesia Australia and New Zealand to strengthen diplomatic ties expand trade cooperation and hold high level bilateral meetings with leaders.
PM Modi Starts Three Nation Diplomatic Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a six day overseas tour covering Indonesia Australia and New Zealand. The visit aims to deepen India’s strategic partnerships through high level meetings focused on trade investment security and regional cooperation. During the trip, Modi will also engage with members of the Indian diaspora in all three countries.
Historic Visit to New Zealand
The final leg of the tour will take Prime Minister Modi to New Zealand from July 10 to July 11 at the invitation of Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. This will be the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in nearly four decades, making it a significant diplomatic milestone.
In Auckland, both leaders are expected to review the progress of bilateral relations, particularly in trade, commerce and defence. Modi will also address the Indian community, highlighting the growing people to people ties between the two nations.
Indonesia Visit Begins the Tour
The Prime Minister’s first stop is Indonesia, where he will remain from July 6 to July 8 following an invitation from President Prabowo Subianto. This marks Modi’s fourth visit to Indonesia and the first bilateral visit between the two countries since 2018.
During his stay in Jakarta, Modi will hold talks with President Subianto to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in several sectors. He is also scheduled to interact with the Indian diaspora and visit the UNESCO listed Prambanan Temple, a symbol of the long standing cultural and historical connection between India and Indonesia.
Australia Focuses on Trade and Business
After concluding his Indonesia visit, Modi will travel to Melbourne from July 8 to July 10 at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
The two leaders are expected to hold detailed discussions on expanding cooperation in trade, technology, security and other strategic sectors. Modi will also meet Australia’s Governor General Sam Mostyn AC during the visit.
A major highlight of the Australia leg will be Modi’s participation in the India Australia CEO Forum, where he will address leading business executives and encourage stronger economic partnerships between the two countries.
Strengthening India’s Global Partnerships
The three nation visit reflects India’s continued focus on expanding international cooperation across the Indo Pacific region. Through meetings with world leaders, business representatives and the Indian diaspora, the Prime Minister is expected to reinforce India’s diplomatic presence while promoting stronger economic and strategic partnerships.
