Telangana to Get Three New Airports: The Telangana government has stepped up efforts to expand air connectivity by moving ahead with plans to establish three new airports across the state. The proposed facilities at Warangal, Adilabad, and Kothagudem are expected to make air travel more accessible for people living outside Hyderabad while supporting regional economic growth.

The most immediate progress has been made on the Warangal Mamunoor Airport project. State authorities have announced that the foundation stone for the airport will be laid next month, marking a significant milestone in the long awaited development. Once completed, the airport is expected to reduce travel time and improve connectivity for residents of northern Telangana.

Speaking at the Aeromart 2026 conference in Hyderabad, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy confirmed that work on the Warangal airport would begin soon. He also revealed that the Detailed Project Report for the proposed Adilabad airport has already been prepared, indicating that the project is moving into the next phase.

The Adilabad airport is planned under a hybrid model by utilizing the existing Indian Air Force runway along with additional land to support both military and civilian aviation operations. Meanwhile, the state government continues discussions with the central government to secure final approvals for the proposed airport at Kothagudem.

The minister also highlighted Telangana’s growing strength in the aerospace and defence sectors. He said more than 1500 MSMEs in the state are manufacturing components for aerospace and defence industries, with parts made in Telangana being used in aircraft and helicopters across the world. He described this as a reflection of the state’s rising industrial capabilities and global recognition.
