TMC Rebel Revolt: A dramatic rebellion within Trinamool Congress saw rebel leaders announce Mamata Banerjee's removal as party president while unveiling a new committee and leadership structure in Kolkata.

TMC Rebel Revolt: West Bengal politics witnessed a dramatic turn after a group of rebel Trinamool Congress leaders announced the removal of Mamata Banerjee from the party president post. The development has triggered one of the biggest internal crises in the party’s history and raised questions about its future leadership.
The political upheaval unfolded in Kolkata shortly after the state budget session. Rebel legislators and senior leaders gathered at a large meeting in New Town, where hundreds of party representatives, district level leaders and elected members reportedly participated in discussions about the party’s future.
During the gathering, rebel leader Ritabrata Banerjee declared that Mamata Banerjee had been removed from the position of national president of the Trinamool Congress. The announcement was accompanied by the formation of a new leadership structure, signaling a direct challenge to the existing party leadership.
In a significant symbolic move, photographs of Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee were reportedly removed from the event venue. Organizers displayed only the party election symbol, claiming that their faction represented the original Trinamool Congress.
The rebel camp also announced the creation of a new national working committee consisting of 30 members. Senior legislator Arup Roy was named as the president of the newly formed committee. Leaders from the faction stated that details of the organizational changes would soon be submitted to the Election Commission.
Another major development came with the reported entry of senior leader and former Kolkata mayor Farhad Hakim into the rebel camp. His move was viewed as a significant setback for the Mamata Banerjee faction, given his long association with the party leadership.
The new committee also appointed several senior leaders to key positions. Farhad Hakim, Arup Biswas, Rathin Ghosh and Sabina Yasmin were named as national vice presidents, while Ritabrata Banerjee, Javed Khan and Sandipan Saha were announced as general secretaries.
The official camp led by Mamata Banerjee has yet to issue a detailed response to the claims made by the rebel faction. Political observers believe the dispute could lead to a prolonged legal and political battle over party leadership and recognition in the coming months.
