DTO Death Probe: The tragic death of District Transport Officer Venkanna in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district has triggered a major political controversy in Telangana. Venkanna lost his life after being hit by a coal tipper lorry while conducting vehicle inspections, but the incident is now facing intense scrutiny from opposition leaders.
BRS senior leader and former minister Harish Rao expressed serious concerns over the circumstances surrounding the accident. He stated that the incident should not be viewed merely as a routine road accident and called for a deeper investigation into the events leading to the officer’s death.
According to Harish Rao, illegal sand and coal transportation networks operating in the state have become increasingly powerful. He alleged that honest officials attempting to curb unlawful activities are facing threats and pressure from vested interests involved in these operations.
The former minister demanded that the government reveal who is behind the illegal transportation activities in the Bhupalpally region and identify those allegedly supporting such networks. He said the public deserves complete transparency regarding the forces operating behind these illegal businesses.
Harish Rao further insisted that authorities should not limit the investigation to the arrest of the vehicle driver alone. He called for a comprehensive high level inquiry to determine whether any larger conspiracy or external influence played a role in the incident.
He urged the state government to uncover the full truth behind Venkanna’s death, ensure strict punishment for anyone found responsible, and implement stronger safety measures to protect government officials performing their duties in the field.
