NEET UG Retest Held Peacefully: NEET UG Re Examination Conducted Smoothly Across India Amid Tight Security
NEET UG Re Examination was held peacefully across India with strict security measures as over 22 lakh candidates appeared at thousands of centers despite weather and transport challenges.

NEET UG Retest Held Peacefully: The NEET UG Re Examination was conducted smoothly across the country on Sunday under extensive security arrangements. Organized by the National Testing Agency, the examination took place at 5,440 centers spread across 551 cities in India, along with 14 overseas centers. More than 22.79 lakh candidates appeared for the test, making it one of the largest entrance examinations in the country.
The re examination was held from 2 pm to 5.15 pm, while candidates with disabilities were given additional time and allowed to continue until 6.20 pm. The test was conducted in English and 12 Indian languages to accommodate students from diverse regions.
To ensure transparency and prevent irregularities, authorities deployed large scale surveillance systems. More than 1.38 lakh CCTV cameras were installed across over 95,000 examination rooms. Officials stated that monitoring was carried out virtually at national, state, and ministry levels. In addition, over 51,000 signal jammers were used, while drones and extra security personnel were stationed at examination centers.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed the arrangements from the NTA headquarters in Okhla and monitored the smooth conduct of the examination.
The re examination was ordered after the original NEET UG 2026 test held on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak. The matter is currently under investigation, and authorities implemented enhanced security measures to restore confidence in the examination process.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in and around Kolkata created difficulties for several candidates. Waterlogging on roads and traffic disruptions made travel to examination centers challenging in many areas. Despite these obstacles, students managed to reach their venues and complete the examination.
In another incident, a candidate in Ajmer initially faced difficulty entering an examination center due to concerns over her attire. The candidate later stated that she had appeared for the earlier examination in similar clothing. Authorities subsequently clarified that she was eventually allowed to take the test.
Apart from weather related concerns, transportation issues also affected candidates in parts of Maharashtra. A continuing strike by employees of the city transport system caused inconvenience to students and commuters, adding to the challenges faced on examination day.
The National Testing Agency maintained that the examination was completed peacefully across the country, with enhanced monitoring and security mechanisms playing a crucial role in ensuring a fair and smooth process for all candidates.
