Telangana Heatwave Alert: Heatwave Likely Till June 24 as Telangana Awaits Monsoon Rains
Telangana may continue to experience heatwave conditions until June 24 before monsoon activity strengthens bringing rainfall relief while concerns over delayed seasonal rains remain across several states.

Telangana Heatwave Alert: People across Telangana and neighboring states who have been struggling with intense heat may soon receive some relief. The India Meteorological Department has indicated that conditions are becoming favorable for the southwest monsoon to advance into parts of Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh over the next few days.
The expected progress of the monsoon is likely to improve weather conditions in regions that have witnessed prolonged dry spells and high temperatures. Officials believe rainfall activity could pick up significantly during the coming week once the monsoon strengthens across these areas.
However, before the arrival of widespread rain, Telangana is expected to face continued heatwave conditions. Weather officials have warned that some parts of the state may experience hot and dry winds between June 20 and June 24. Similar weather is also expected in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Marathwada.
Meteorologists have linked the delayed movement of the southwest monsoon to the strong El Nino conditions that developed over the Pacific Ocean this year. The phenomenon has slowed the normal advance of seasonal rains, resulting in rainfall shortages across several parts of the country.
According to weather data, many districts nationwide have recorded below normal rainfall, while a large number are facing severe rainfall deficits. The delay has raised concerns about the upcoming kharif cultivation season and the availability of water resources in several regions.
The weather department has also noted in its long range outlook that southern states could receive below normal rainfall during the June to September monsoon season. Despite those concerns, the anticipated arrival of monsoon showers is expected to provide much needed relief from the ongoing heat across Telangana.
