Osmania University has become the first university in India to receive four international ISO certifications simultaneously marking a major milestone in academic quality sustainability energy management and food safety standards.

The achievement reflects the institution’s commitment to maintaining global standards across several critical areas of administration and campus operations.

The certifications were presented during a special event held at the university’s Senate Hall. Representatives from the Bureau of Indian Standards handed over the prestigious recognitions to the university leadership, acknowledging its efforts in academic governance, environmental responsibility, energy efficiency, and food safety management.

Among the certifications received, ISO 21001:2018 recognizes excellence in educational organization management systems and focuses on improving teaching quality and academic administration. ISO 14001:2015 highlights the university’s environmental management initiatives and its efforts to promote sustainable practices across the campus.

The university also secured ISO 50001:2018 for implementing effective energy management systems aimed at improving energy efficiency and conservation. In addition, ISO 22000:2018 was awarded for maintaining food safety standards in hostels and canteens, ensuring safe and quality meals for students.

Speaking at the event, officials noted that receiving these certifications is a significant accomplishment, but maintaining and continuously improving these standards will remain the real challenge. They emphasized that quality enhancement is an ongoing process rather than a final destination.

Vice Chancellor Professor Kumar Molugaram described the recognition as a landmark moment in the university’s 109 year history. He stated that the institution is focused on preparing itself for future global expectations by embracing international standards and strengthening its commitment to students and society.

University authorities credited the achievement to the collective efforts of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, academic departments, and administrative teams. They said the certifications demonstrate Osmania University’s dedication to quality governance, environmental stewardship, energy efficiency, and student welfare while setting an example for other higher education institutions across the country.
