Van Mahotsav Begins: Telangana Launches Massive Van Mahotsav Plantation Drive

Telangana begins Van Mahotsav 2026 with an ambitious target of planting 16.06 crore saplings across the state while promoting environmental conservation and supporting large scale development initiatives.

Van Mahotsav Begins: Telangana has launched one of its largest environmental campaigns with the start of Van Mahotsav 2026. The state government has set an ambitious goal of planting 16.06 crore saplings to strengthen green cover and improve ecological balance across the region.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to officially inaugurate the programme by planting a Nagalingam sapling at Gurranguda Eco Park in Rangareddy district. The initiative reflects the government’s focus on increasing forest cover and encouraging public participation in environmental protection.

To support the plantation drive, various government departments have worked together to prepare saplings across thousands of nurseries located throughout the state. Fruit bearing trees and shade giving plants have been made ready for distribution, allowing communities to actively participate during the monsoon season.

Officials said the campaign will reach villages, towns, and urban areas, turning the plantation effort into a statewide movement. Citizens, local representatives, voluntary organisations, and government agencies have been urged to contribute to the programme and help create a greener Telangana.

Alongside the plantation initiative, the government will also launch and lay foundation stones for several development projects in and around Gurranguda. These works are estimated to cost about Rs 35.50 crore and are aimed at improving public infrastructure while maintaining environmental sustainability.

The government believes that balancing development with environmental responsibility is essential for long term growth. Through Van Mahotsav 2026, Telangana hopes to strengthen its natural resources and move closer to its vision of becoming a greener and more sustainable state.
