TMC Crisis Deepens in Bengal: TMC Faces Deepening Crisis as Mamata Banerjee Receives Legal Notice

Internal tensions in the TMC intensified after disciplinary action against rebel MPs a legal notice to Mamata Banerjee and the resignation of a senior party leader.

TMC Crisis Deepens in Bengal: The Trinamool Congress is facing growing internal unrest in West Bengal, with a series of developments exposing deep divisions within the ruling party. A legal notice sent to party chief Mamata Banerjee, disciplinary action against rebel MPs, and the resignation of a senior leader have added fresh pressure on the party leadership.

Amid the ongoing political turbulence, former minister and senior TMC leader Manas Ranjan Bhunia resigned from the party’s primary membership. In his resignation letter to Mamata Banerjee, he reportedly stated that the current political environment within the party left little scope for him to continue.

The latest controversy escalated after Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar, son of rebel TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, issued legal notices to Mamata Banerjee and several party leaders. He alleged that false and defamatory remarks had been made against him and demanded a public apology. He also rejected claims that his mother’s rebellion was linked to his political ambitions for an Assembly ticket.

At the same time, the party leadership moved swiftly against leaders accused of engaging in activities against party interests. Kolkata North MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay was removed from his position as district party president, with loyalist MLA Kunal Ghosh taking over the role. Jadavpur MP Sayoni Ghosh was also relieved of her responsibilities as president of the party’s youth wing.

These actions came shortly after Sudip Bandyopadhyay and fellow rebel MP Shatabdi Roy met Union Minister Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi. The meeting triggered speculation about possible political realignments and reportedly prompted the party’s immediate response.

Adding to the uncertainty, reports suggest that a group of rebel MPs led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar is considering joining the BJP led NDA alliance. The developments have fueled intense political discussions in West Bengal and raised questions about the future stability of the TMC.

With legal challenges, leadership reshuffles, and growing dissent within its ranks, the Trinamool Congress is navigating one of its most difficult internal phases in recent times.
