Heavy rainfall in Hyderabad turned fatal after fallen power lines came into contact with waterlogged roads, leading to the deaths of two young residents.

Hyderabad Rain Tragedy: A sudden spell of heavy rain in Hyderabad ended in tragedy for two families after an electrocution incident claimed the lives of two young residents in the Old City. The heartbreaking accident occurred amid severe weather conditions that affected several parts of the city.
The victims, identified as Jaffer, aged 25, and Abu, aged 16, were returning home when the incident took place near Royal Sea Hotel in the Bandlaguda area. According to local accounts, strong winds and rain had earlier damaged electrical infrastructure in the locality, causing live power cables to fall onto a waterlogged stretch of road.
Unaware of the danger hidden beneath the accumulated rainwater, the two youths stepped into the flooded area after getting down from an auto rickshaw. Within moments, both received a severe electric shock as the submerged wires remained energized.
Residents who witnessed the incident immediately alerted authorities and helped disconnect the power supply. Emergency efforts were launched to save the victims, but Jaffer died at the scene. Abu was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries while being transported for medical care.

The incident triggered widespread grief and anger among local residents. Many questioned whether the tragedy could have been prevented if damaged electrical lines had been identified and secured more quickly following the storm.
Police reached the location soon after receiving information and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The bodies were shifted for postmortem procedures while officials examined the damaged electrical infrastructure in the area.
The Hyderabad rain tragedy has once again highlighted the risks posed by exposed power lines during the monsoon season. Civic authorities and safety experts have urged residents to exercise caution around flooded roads, electric poles, and damaged utility equipment during periods of heavy rainfall.
Local residents have also called for stricter maintenance of electrical networks and faster emergency response measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The loss of two young lives has left the community in mourning and renewed concerns about public safety during extreme weather conditions.
