Four Children Drown in Manjira River During Family Festival Visit

A joyful family gathering ended in tragedy after four young children drowned in the Manjira River, leaving relatives devastated and prompting a police investigation into the incident.

A tragic incident cast a shadow over a family celebration in Telangana after four children lost their lives in the Manjira River. The heartbreaking accident occurred near Bollakpalli village in Pitlam mandal, leaving family members and local residents in deep shock.

According to police, the children had attended a traditional Ellamma festival along with their families at Budimi village in Banswada mandal. The celebrations continued from morning until afternoon, and after the event concluded, the children went to the nearby Manjira River for a swim.

The victims, identified as Anitha, Pavani, Srivani, and Bhanu, were all below the age of ten. While swimming in the river, they reportedly became trapped in a deep muddy patch and were unable to escape. Within moments, the situation turned fatal.

A woman who noticed the children struggling immediately attempted to rescue them. However, she sustained serious injuries during the effort and could not save the children. Local residents quickly rushed to help and brought the injured woman to safety.

Villagers later recovered the bodies of the children with the help of local authorities. The scene triggered emotional scenes as parents and relatives broke down in grief after learning about the loss.

Police officers reached the village soon after receiving information about the incident. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy.

The deaths of four young children from the same extended family have left the entire region mourning, turning what began as a day of celebration into an unforgettable tragedy.
