Former MLA Balka Suman Arrested Amid Singareni Remarks Controversy
BRS leader and former Chennur MLA Balka Suman was arrested in Hyderabad following controversy over his Singareni remarks, triggering political tension and protests from party workers.

The arrest of BRS leader and former Chennur MLA Balka Suman created high political drama in Hyderabad on Saturday, with tense scenes unfolding outside Telangana Bhavan. After hours of confrontation between police personnel and BRS supporters, authorities took Suman into custody and shifted him to Nampally.
The action comes in connection with cases reportedly registered over his recent remarks concerning Singareni Collieries, hereditary employment issues and alleged irregularities within the organization. The development has quickly become a major political flashpoint in Telangana.
Before his arrest, Balka Suman addressed the media at Telangana Bhavan and launched a sharp attack on the Congress government. He alleged that the state administration was targeting him for questioning the implementation of election promises and public commitments made by the ruling party.
Suman claimed that instead of answering concerns raised by the opposition, the government was resorting to legal action and intimidation. He accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Vivek Venkataswamy of orchestrating a political campaign against him because of the questions he raised regarding Singareni and workers’ interests.
Recalling his role during the Telangana statehood movement, Suman said he had previously faced multiple cases and police action while participating in protests. He alleged that similar methods were being used again to suppress dissenting voices and political criticism.
The former MLA maintained that he has consistently remained among the people even after losing the last election. According to him, raising issues related to public welfare and workers’ rights should not invite punitive action from the government.
He further alleged that his criticism of developments within Singareni and his demands for protecting hereditary jobs had led to the current situation. Despite the arrest, Suman asserted that neither he nor the BRS cadre would be intimidated by such actions.
Following news of his detention, BRS workers in several parts of Telangana began preparing protest programs, raising the possibility of further political confrontations in the coming days.
