Maoist Leader Narahari Surrenders in Major Blow to Extremist Network

Senior Maoist leader Pasunuri Narahari surrendered before Telangana police along with his wife as officials called it a significant setback for Maoist activities.

Telangana police received a major breakthrough after senior Maoist leader Pasunuri Narahari surrendered along with his wife Danamma. Officials described the development as another strong setback for Maoist operations and underground activities.

Speaking to the media while presenting Narahari, Telangana Director General of Police CV Anand said the surrender carries significant importance because of Narahari’s long association and influence within the Maoist structure.

According to officials, Narahari belongs to Somidi village in Hanumakonda district and entered the Maoist movement while pursuing his degree education. He reportedly joined the organization in 1982 as a member of underground squads and gradually rose through different ranks over the years.

His role within the organization expanded considerably and he later became a Central Committee member in 2017. Authorities stated that he handled both technical and organizational responsibilities while also contributing to operational activities.

Police officials said Narahari possessed expertise in the manufacturing and maintenance of weapons including firearms mortars rockets and grenades. He was also involved in training cadres in weapons production and technical operations.

The DGP said both central and state governments are continuing efforts to weaken Maoist activities and appealed to those still operating underground to surrender and join the mainstream.

Officials added that rehabilitation support and assistance continue to be extended to those who surrender and choose to begin a new chapter in life.
