POCSO Case Court Sends Bandi Bhagirath to 14 Day Judicial Remand

A Medchal court remanded Bandi Bhagirath to judicial custody till May 29 in the POCSO case after Cyberabad police arrested him and produced him before the magistrate.

Bandi Sai Bhagirath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay, was sent to 14 days judicial remand by a Medchal court in connection with a POCSO case. After hearing the matter, the magistrate ordered judicial custody till May 29 and directed police to shift him to Cherlapally Central Jail.

Cyberabad police took Bhagirath into custody on Saturday night near Appa Junction in Hyderabad following developments in the investigation. He was later moved to Pet Basheerabad Police Station, where officials questioned him for more than two hours.

After the interrogation, police conducted medical examinations at a government hospital and later presented him before the Medchal magistrate during late night hours. Following the court order, authorities transferred him to jail.

The case was originally registered on May 8 at Pet Basheerabad Police Station based on a complaint filed by the mother of a minor girl. Initially, police booked the case under general sections, but later added serious charges under Section 5(l) read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act.

Meanwhile, different versions emerged regarding Bhagirath’s arrest. Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh stated that police teams traced and detained the accused after search operations.

However, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay claimed that his son was voluntarily produced before police through legal representatives out of respect for the law and judicial system. He also stated that Bhagirath has repeatedly maintained that he had not committed any wrongdoing.
