Telangana Government Launches New Livelihood Scheme for Women From June 2
Telangana Government is introducing a new women empowerment scheme from June 2 that will provide livestock units, financial assistance, and professional training support for rural self help group members.

The Telangana Government has announced a new welfare initiative aimed at improving the financial independence of rural women across the state. The scheme, which will officially begin from June 2, is designed to strengthen women self help groups through livestock based livelihood opportunities.
Officials said the programme has been prepared under the guidance of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Seethakka and will mainly support women from rural communities who are looking for sustainable income sources.
Livestock Units to Be Provided Under Subsidy
As part of the scheme, eligible women members of village self help groups will receive sheep, goats, country chicken units, and even emu bird farming support under subsidy benefits.
The government plans to move beyond traditional livestock farming and encourage women to establish modern income generating units capable of creating long term employment at the village level.
Authorities believe the project can help rural families improve earnings while also promoting self employment among women.
Professional Training for Beneficiaries
To ensure better success for the scheme, beneficiaries will receive specialised training from experts associated with P V Narasimha Rao Veterinary University.
The training programme will focus on animal healthcare, scientific feeding methods, disease prevention, and livestock management techniques. Officials say this practical guidance will help women run the units more efficiently and increase profitability.
Financial Support Through Banks
Apart from livestock assistance, selected beneficiaries will also receive financial support through bank linked loans, revolving funds, and government subsidies at lower interest rates.
The state government recently signed an agreement related to the programme at BRK Bhavan in Hyderabad. SERP Chief Executive Officer Divya Devarajan and Veterinary University Registrar Sharath Chandra participated in the signing process.
Officials expressed confidence that women trained under the scheme would be able to produce quality livestock products and generate better income opportunities in rural markets.
Focus on Women Empowerment
Since coming to power in Telangana, the Congress Government has introduced several welfare programmes focused on women empowerment and rural development. The latest initiative is being viewed as another major step toward improving economic opportunities for women in villages.
Experts believe combining skill training with financial assistance could help rural women create stable businesses and reduce dependency on seasonal income sources.
