Rain Relief Likely in Parts of Andhra Pradesh Amid Intense Heatwave

Several districts in Andhra Pradesh may witness light rains and thunderstorms on Sunday while other regions continue to battle scorching temperatures, according to fresh alerts issued by disaster management officials.

People across Andhra Pradesh may experience mixed weather conditions on Sunday as the state is expected to see both severe heat and scattered rainfall. The State Disaster Management Authority has warned that while some districts may continue to record extreme temperatures, a few others could receive light showers accompanied by thunderstorms.

Officials said changing wind patterns in the troposphere along with the impact of a trough system are likely to trigger rain activity in different parts of the state. Residents have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity, especially farmers, labourers, and cattle herders working in open areas.

Authorities specifically warned people not to take shelter under trees during lightning and thunderstorms. Citizens have been asked to move to safe buildings during sudden weather changes and avoid staying in open fields. Farmers have also been advised to take precautionary measures while carrying out agricultural activities.

According to the latest forecast, light rain with thunder and lightning may occur in several districts including Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Polavaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts.

At the same time, heatwave conditions are expected to continue in a few regions. Severe hot winds may affect areas such as Ananthagiri in Alluri district, Gurtedu in Polavaram district, and K Kotapadu in Anakapalli district. Moderate heatwave conditions are also likely in several mandals including Achyutapuram, Chodavaram, Devarapalli, Madugula, Paravada, and Chidikada.

Meanwhile, temperatures recorded on Saturday remained extremely high in many districts. Tovva in Kurnool district registered 41.6 degrees Celsius, while Yerrampeta in Polavaram district recorded 40.5 degrees Celsius. Sanjamala in Nandyal touched 40.4 degrees Celsius, and areas in Eluru and Kadapa reported around 40.3 degrees Celsius. Devarapalli in Anakapalli district also crossed the 40 degree mark.

Weather officials believe the coming days may continue to bring unstable weather patterns, with both heatwave conditions and isolated rainfall affecting different parts of Andhra Pradesh.
