Chicken Prices Shock Consumers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

Chicken prices across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have surged sharply this week, leaving non vegetarian families worried as rates touch record highs due to heat, lower supply, rising feed costs, and growing market demand.

Non vegetarian lovers visiting chicken shops in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are now facing unexpectedly high prices. In several cities, the cost of chicken has climbed steeply, making it difficult for many middle class families to buy their usual weekend meals. Skinless chicken is currently being sold between Rs 340 and Rs 360 per kilogram in many areas.

The sudden rise in prices has become a major talking point among consumers. Sundays are usually the busiest days at chicken centers, but many customers are now stepping back after seeing the latest rates displayed at shops. Traders say the increase has happened rapidly within the last few days after prices remained stable for some time.

According to poultry business owners, extreme summer temperatures are one of the biggest reasons behind the price hike. Many birds are reportedly dying because of intense heat, while others are not gaining proper weight. This has directly affected the supply reaching markets across both Telugu states.

At the same time, poultry farmers are also struggling with higher feed costs and increasing transportation expenses. Industry experts say these rising operational costs are eventually being passed on to consumers. The ongoing wedding and function season has further pushed demand higher while supply remains limited.

Current market prices in several regions are as follows:

Live bird prices are ranging between Rs 190 and Rs 220 per kilogram. Chicken with skin is being sold between Rs 300 and Rs 320 per kilogram. Skinless chicken prices have touched Rs 340 to Rs 360 per kilogram in many cities.

The impact is not limited to chicken alone. Egg prices have also increased noticeably in recent weeks. Eggs that were previously sold for around Rs 5 each are now being sold between Rs 7 and Rs 8 in many local markets.

Market analysts believe these higher poultry prices may continue for a few more days as the industry continues to face supply challenges during the summer season.
