Mother Son Suicide: Mother and Son Die by Suicide After Family Dispute in Telangana
A mother and her 21 year old son died by suicide within hours of each other following a family dispute, leaving relatives and villagers in deep distress.
Mother Son Suicide: A family dispute has ended in tragedy in Medak district, where a 45 year old woman and her 21 year old son died by suicide within hours of each other.
The incident came to light on Saturday morning in Makthalakshmapur village of Peddashankarpet mandal. According to police, the woman, identified as Nagadhar Bethamma, died by suicide in Hyderabad on Friday night. Her son, Nagadhar Praveen, later took the same step while travelling towards their native village.
Police said Bethamma and her husband, Nagadhar Shivaiah, were originally from Makthalakshmapur. The family had moved to Hyderabad around one and a half years ago in search of work. The couple had two daughters and a son. One daughter was married, while the other was staying in a hostel and pursuing her intermediate education.
Praveen was working as an electrician in Hyderabad. His parents were employed as watchmen at an apartment in Borampet.
According to Peddashankarpet police, a dispute broke out between Bethamma and Shivaiah on Friday. Following the argument, Bethamma died by suicide at night. After learning about his mother’s death, Praveen reached the location and reportedly had an argument with his father.
He then left for their native village. While on the way, Praveen stopped near the outskirts of Kolapalli and died by suicide during the early hours of Saturday.
Local residents noticed him on Saturday morning and alerted the police. A police team reached the spot and began an investigation after receiving a complaint from Shivaiah. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding both deaths.
The bodies were sent for postmortem examinations. Bethamma’s body was taken to Gandhi Hospital, while Praveen’s body was sent to the Jogipet government hospital.
After the postmortem procedures were completed, the last rites of the mother and son were performed in Makthalakshmapur on Saturday evening.
The deaths have left the family and local community devastated. Relatives and villagers gathered in grief as the bodies were brought back to the village.
