The 796.28 acre land acquisition near Shamshabad airport marks a major step towards Hyderabad’s proposed bullet train hub, planned to connect multiple high speed rail corridors across Telangana and beyond.
Hyderabad Bullet Train Hub: The proposed bullet train hub in Hyderabad has moved a step closer to reality with revenue authorities beginning the land acquisition process near Shamshabad airport.
Ranga Reddy district Collector C Narayana Reddy recently issued a preliminary notification for acquiring 796.28 acres at Bahaduraguda. The land will be developed as an Integrated Mobility Hub, which is expected to serve as a key base for bullet train operations in the region.
The location was selected because of its proximity to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The site is also close to the Shamshabad to Tukkuguda Outer Ring Road service road, making it suitable for a large transportation facility.
Officials are looking to acquire 750 acres of government land along with another 46.28 acres of patta land. Preliminary efforts for the acquisition had already started after the state government decided that the bullet train hub should be located close to the airport.
The government plans to use the facility for bullet train services connecting Hyderabad with Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai through Amaravati. The proposed hub is expected to support train movements as well as other operational requirements linked to these corridors.
A major portion of the identified government land is located in survey numbers 62 and 28 at Bahaduraguda. Officials considered the availability of a large stretch of government land as one of the key reasons for choosing the location.
The proposed Integrated Mobility Hub is expected to bring different modes of transportation closer together and improve connectivity around the airport. Its location near major roads could also make access easier for passengers travelling from different parts of Hyderabad and neighbouring areas.
The land acquisition notification is being seen as the first formal step towards taking the project forward. Further processes related to the identified patta lands and project development are expected to follow.
The bullet train plans are part of wider efforts to strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a major transportation centre in southern India. Once the required land and other approvals are completed, the project could become an important link between Hyderabad and several major cities.
