Hyderabad Student Shria Lakrapragada Named Harvard Tatellman Scholar 2026

Shria Lakrapragada has been named a Harvard Tatellman Scholar for 2026.She is the only student chosen for the honour this year.Her journey began with leadership training in Hyderabad.

The achievement marks another major milestone in the journey of Shria Lakrapragada, a student from Hyderabad who has steadily built her academic and leadership profile on the international stage.

Shria completed her undergraduate studies at Wellesley College in the United States, where she studied psychology. She secured a full scholarship worth around Rs 2.7 crore in 2022, allowing her to pursue a four year degree at the prestigious institution.

Her time at Wellesley was not limited to classroom learning. She took part in research and student leadership activities and served as a student trustee. She was also selected as an Albright Fellow, adding to a growing list of academic and leadership achievements.

Before moving to the United States, Shria had already begun developing her leadership skills in Hyderabad. She participated in programmes run by Dexterity Global and received training through the National Scholar Development Programme and DexSchool.

Those early experiences appear to have played an important role in shaping her approach to education and leadership.

During her years at Wellesley, Shria also explored the historical connections between India and the college through a dedicated thesis. She completed her bachelor’s degree in May 2026 before turning her attention to postgraduate studies.

Her academic record opened several doors. She received admission opportunities from five highly regarded universities, including Harvard, Oxford, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins. After considering her options, she decided to continue her studies at Harvard.

Her selection as a Tatellman Scholar has now added another remarkable chapter to that journey. The Harvard honour is intended to recognise students who have shown exceptional determination in education and leadership while overcoming significant personal challenges.

For Shria, the recognition carries a deeply personal meaning. She has credited her family for standing by her through challenges during her childhood and helping her make the most of the educational opportunities she received.

She now hopes to use that education beyond her own career. Shria has expressed a desire to apply what she learns toward contributing to India’s development in the years ahead.

What started as a young student’s pursuit of learning in Hyderabad has now taken her to one of the world’s most respected universities. Her latest recognition at Harvard is a significant achievement, not just for her academic record but also for the determination that has shaped her journey.
