Venezuela Hit by Massive Earthquake: A series of powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela, causing widespread panic and prompting large scale emergency response operations across the country. According to reports from the United States Geological Survey, a strong foreshock measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale, with some observations placing it at 7.2, was followed just 40 seconds later by a massive 7.5 magnitude main earthquake.

Officials said the earthquake originated at a shallow depth of about 10 kilometers near the coastal city of Moron. The intense shaking was felt across several major cities, including the capital Caracas, where residential buildings and multi storey structures suffered heavy damage. Thousands of frightened residents rushed out of homes, offices, and shopping centers to seek safety in open areas.

Emergency teams have been deployed to search for people believed to be trapped beneath collapsed buildings. As a precaution against possible accidents, authorities suspended gas supplies in affected cities to reduce the risk of pipeline explosions while rescue operations continued around the clock.

The impact of the earthquake extended beyond Venezuela, with tremors reaching neighboring Colombia and parts of Brazil. Tsunami alerts were initially issued for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, but officials later withdrew the warnings after confirming that no significant tsunami threat remained.

On the same day, another strong earthquake measuring 6.9 struck near Kuji along Japan’s Pacific coast. Japanese authorities confirmed that there was no tsunami danger following the quake, providing relief to residents in the region.

The occurrence of two major earthquakes in different parts of the world on the same day has drawn global attention. In Venezuela, the government has declared a state of emergency and mobilized military personnel along with disaster response teams to speed up rescue efforts and support affected communities.
