Trump Declares Iran Ceasefire Officially Over as Diplomatic Talks Continue

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the ceasefire agreement with Iran has officially come to an end, marking a significant shift in relations between the two countries. Despite the announcement, he said Washington is still willing to continue diplomatic engagement if Iran remains interested in negotiations.

Sharing the update on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated that Iran had requested further discussions with the United States. He said the request had been accepted, but made it clear that the ceasefire agreement was no longer in effect.

The latest development comes after months of heightened tensions between the two nations. A temporary ceasefire had been reached in June following an extended period of conflict, but recent military actions have effectively brought that arrangement to an end.

In recent weeks, the United States carried out strikes on more than 170 Iranian military locations, targeting drone facilities, missile storage sites and air defense systems. Iran responded with attacks on American military installations in Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, further escalating the regional security situation.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts have not stopped. Qatari mediators are continuing discussions with Iranian officials while coordinating with the United States in an attempt to reopen negotiations and reduce tensions.

One of the major issues under discussion is the future of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important maritime route that handles a significant share of global oil shipments. Differences over security and navigation in the region remain a key obstacle to any broader agreement.
