Suspected Ebola Cases Rise to Two at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad

Health authorities have isolated two individuals linked to Sudan after Ebola like symptoms were detected, while laboratory testing is underway to determine their medical condition.

Health authorities in Hyderabad have intensified monitoring efforts after the number of suspected Ebola cases at Gandhi Hospital increased to two. Both individuals are linked to Sudan and are currently being treated under strict isolation protocols while awaiting test results.

The latest patient, identified as Mohammed Yagouch Ahmed, was admitted to the hospital after showing symptoms associated with Ebola. Medical officials stated that he was screened following his arrival and was immediately shifted to a specialized isolation facility as a precautionary measure.

According to doctors, both suspected patients recently arrived from Sudan, a region where health authorities are maintaining heightened surveillance due to concerns over infectious diseases. One of the individuals is believed to be a student enrolled at an educational institution in Hyderabad.

Hospital officials also confirmed that another person who had close contact with a suspected patient has been admitted to a dedicated isolation ward for observation and treatment. Medical teams are closely monitoring both individuals while following all safety guidelines.

With concerns surrounding Ebola outbreaks in parts of Central Africa, screening procedures have been strengthened at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad. International passengers arriving from affected regions are undergoing detailed health checks to identify potential risks at an early stage.

Doctors at Gandhi Hospital revealed that Ahmed had reportedly traveled to Hyderabad seeking treatment for joint related health issues and was suffering from a high fever when examined. Due to the nature of his symptoms, he was transferred to the Ebola isolation ward for further evaluation.

Samples collected from the patients have been sent to the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology for preliminary analysis. The specimens will subsequently be forwarded to the National Institute of Virology in Pune for advanced testing. Officials expect the final reports to be available within about a week.

To ensure preparedness, Gandhi Hospital has established a dedicated isolation facility with twenty beds for handling suspected cases. Health authorities emphasized that the current measures are precautionary and urged the public not to panic while waiting for confirmed laboratory findings.
