Revanth Reddy on BC Census: CM Revanth Reddy Says Congress First to Complete BC Census in Telangana
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud’s legacy and said his government has taken steps to document backward classes and strengthen opportunities for weaker sections.

Revanth Reddy on BC Census: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said Telangana’s Congress government was the first to complete the process of collecting detailed figures on backward classes. He made the remarks while addressing the 376th birth anniversary celebrations of Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Revanth Reddy praised Papanna Goud’s fight and said the leader’s statue should receive the same importance as the Martyrs’ Memorial. He also said Telangana had not done enough to preserve and communicate the contributions of its historical figures.
The Chief Minister used the occasion to attack the previous BRS government, accusing it of spreading misinformation about the Congress administration through social media. He said his government had given important positions to people connected with the Telangana movement and weaker sections.
According to Revanth Reddy, education remains the most important tool for people who want to change their circumstances. He said better educational opportunities could help families move forward and create a stronger future for the next generation.
The Chief Minister also pointed to the political representation of different communities within the Congress government. He said leaders such as Seethakka and Vakiti Srihari had received ministerial positions after the Congress came to power.
Revanth Reddy further recalled that the government had honoured families associated with the Telangana movement by giving them important responsibilities. He mentioned Srikanth Chary’s mother Shankaramma and Chakali Ailamma’s granddaughter in this context.
The Chief Minister said his government was focusing on welfare measures such as Indiramma housing for poorer families. He contrasted this with the previous administration and criticised the BRS leadership over its governance and financial decisions.
He claimed that Telangana had inherited a debt burden of around Rs 8 lakh crore from the previous government. According to him, a significant portion of the state’s available resources is being used to meet interest payments, leaving less room for welfare and development programmes.
Revanth Reddy also expressed confidence that the Congress would return to power in 2029. Referring to the possibility of delimitation, he said the party would be in a strong position to form the government with an expanded Assembly.
The Chief Minister’s speech combined tributes to Papanna Goud with a strong political message, highlighting the Congress government’s claims on BC representation, welfare and social justice while taking aim at the previous BRS administration.
