Indian Man Arrested in Germany Over Girlfriend Murder Case in Arizona

An Indian man wanted in connection with the alleged killing of his girlfriend in Arizona has been arrested in Germany, according to local media reports. The suspect, identified as Varun Batchigari, was reportedly detained while attempting to leave Europe and travel toward India.

The case came to light after the family of 19 year old college student Julissa Ruby became concerned when she stopped responding to their calls. Her parents reportedly contacted local police, who went to her apartment near the University of Arizona and found her dead under suspicious circumstances.

Investigators subsequently began looking into Ruby’s relationship with Varun, who was reportedly her boyfriend. Her family alleged that he had taken her phone and credit cards and later sent several messages to her mother using her phone.

Police registered a case and began searching for the suspect as investigators traced his movements after the incident. Authorities reportedly found that Varun had travelled from Tucson International Airport to Houston.

Investigators then learned that he had taken another flight from Houston to Berlin. According to the reports, he was allegedly attempting to continue his journey from Germany toward India.

With assistance from local police and federal authorities, German authorities reportedly located and arrested Varun in Germany. The arrest followed coordination between agencies as investigators continued efforts to trace the suspect’s movements after the Arizona incident.

The investigation into Ruby’s death remains ongoing, while authorities are expected to examine the evidence surrounding the case and the suspect’s alleged movements after the incident.
