Bajaj Auto Confirms First Electric Motorcycle as Company Expands EV Production
Bajaj Auto plans to launch its first electric motorcycle next financial year while increasing Chetak production following strong sales growth rising EV revenue and record quarterly financial performance.

Bajaj Auto has officially announced its plans to enter the electric motorcycle segment, marking a significant step in its long term electric mobility strategy. The company confirmed during its first quarter earnings conference call that its first electric motorcycle will be introduced in the next financial year, expanding its electric vehicle portfolio beyond the popular Chetak scooter.
The announcement comes at a time when competition in India’s electric two wheeler market continues to intensify. With brands such as TVS, Ather, and Hero strengthening their presence in the electric scooter segment, Bajaj is now preparing to establish itself in the electric motorcycle category before the market becomes even more competitive.
The company’s confidence is backed by the growing success of the Chetak electric scooter. Bajaj revealed that electric vehicles accounted for nearly 30 percent of its domestic business revenue during the April to June quarter. The strong demand for the Chetak has encouraged the company to further expand its manufacturing capabilities to meet increasing customer requirements.
To support rising demand, Bajaj Auto plans to increase Chetak production capacity from 50000 units per month to 60000 units in the coming months. The expansion is expected to improve supply while helping the company strengthen its position in India’s fast growing electric vehicle market.
Apart from its ambitious EV plans, Bajaj Auto also delivered an impressive financial performance during the first quarter of the financial year. The company reported revenue of Rs. 17244 crore for the April to June period, representing a year on year growth of 37 percent. Strong domestic sales and growing demand for electric vehicles played an important role in achieving these results.
Profitability also reached a new milestone for the automaker. Bajaj Auto reported a net profit of more than Rs. 3000 crore after tax during the quarter, reflecting an increase of over 40 percent compared with the same period last year. The record earnings highlight the company’s strong operational performance and growing presence across multiple vehicle segments.
Exports also contributed significantly to Bajaj Auto’s overall growth. The company recorded strong demand in international markets, particularly across Latin America and Africa. As a result, Bajaj crossed the milestone of more than seven lakh exports for the first time in its history, underlining its expanding global footprint.
With higher production capacity, strong financial results, and the upcoming launch of its first electric motorcycle, Bajaj Auto is positioning itself for the next phase of growth in the electric mobility sector. The company aims to build on the success of the Chetak while expanding into new product categories that could further strengthen its presence in both domestic and international markets.
